Me and my RPGs

My name is Marek Golonka. I study psychology and cultural studies at University of Warsaw. I’ve got many hobbies and interests but RPGs are clearly among those most important to me. My first RPG was Dungeons & Dragons (mostly Faerun, Eberron and Planescape ) but since a few years I play mostly games set in some variation on the nineteenth century. My favourite ones are Wolsung, a Polish “steampulp fantasy” game and Rippers, a very interesting Savage Worlds setting.

During my RPG adventure I became a game designer and my texts were published both in and outside Poland. So far I’ve designed additional material for various games (Wolsung, Savage Worlds, Pathfinder, Adventurers) – you can find links to some of them below.  Dual RPG is my first fully independend project – keep your fingers crossed for its success!

Beside RPGs I’m a huge fan of theatre, sightseeing, history, neuroscience and many, many other things – among them, of course, all things Victorian.

Some of my RPGs published in English

  • The Day Urda Sank: an epic adventure for Wolsung Steam Pulp Fantasy in which Extraordinary Ladies and Gentlemen try to stop the Deep Ones from flooding the world.
  • Faces of Misery: a deck-based generator of adventure ideas for Victorian settings decorated with illustrations from the original edition of Les Miserables (Polish version here).
  • The Dread Shard: an open-ended scenario for Beasts & Barbarians full of sneaking, intriguing and combat (in random order).
  • Regret-Binder: a mastermind villain for Pathfinder campaign who uses people’s regrets to turn them into monsters.
